Zombi is headed to PS4, PC and XBONE

Wii U’s best zombie game (Zombi) is no longer an exclusive, the U has been removed, and Zombi is headed to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The game’s been “optimized” for the newer hardware, a good thing given that it launched alongside the Wii U all the way back in 2012.

But then, Zombi‘s appeal was never about how it looked. The open world, first-person adventure takes a unique approach to zombie fiction, putting players in the shoes of a random survivor of an outbreak in London. The game doesn’t end if you die, but that survivor’s journey does; you simply jump into the shoes of a new survivor and continue where you left off.

Diving deeper into the zombie fiction, Zombi also places great importance on your character’s supplies and the “bug-out bag” that stores them. When one of your survivors dies, all the resources they collected are gone as well… that is unless your next survivor makes it back to wherever your newly zombified former self expired and defeats it.

The big question with Zombi is how it handles the features that depended on the Wii U GamePad in ZombiU. Much of the tension in the original game grew out of the push-and-pull between rifling through your bag and checking the radar on your second screen while being mindful of undead interlopers on your TV.

You can keep up with Zombi‘s progress on Ubisoft’s official website and get your first peek in the trailer up top.
