Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege new Trailer

It’s been four years since the last installment of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series, but now the popular first-person shooter is back in action with the upcoming release of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. The focus of Ubisoft’s new game is, as always, the ability to strategize with tactical gameplay – which is demonstrated clearly in a new live action trailer starring actor Idris Elba.

The suave Englishman is coming off the premiere of Netflix’s first original movie, Beasts of No Nation, which was heavily praised by critics and entering the Oscar conversation as a serious contender. Now in the Rainbow Six Siege trailer, Elba finds himself in the midst of a daring raid executed in attempt to save a valuable hostage. In Rainbow Six Siege’s new trailer, Elba finds himself caught in the background of an intense SWAT team assault – a style of gameplay that will be featured in Rainbow Sixheavily. However, Elba isn’t quite part of the tactical team, or even an innocent bystander – but rather akin to a fly on the wall, as he surveys the action within the house and comments on the strategies needed to excel at combat. The action is intense and fast-moving, switching from numerous areas of the house where soldiers are attempting to infiltrate the home in a variety of unique methods.

Elba spoke on his experiences working on the commercial and the nature of the game:Getting to work on a set with explosions and big destruction always adds an element of excitement. The Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege shoot was unique in that my character is at the eye of the storm during the chaos around him… In the game, walls can be shattered; ceilings and floors can be breached to change how players experience the game. My character walks the viewer through the destruction, while coming out unscathed on the other end.

It goes to show that tactical strategy will certainly play a big role in Rainbow Six Siege. Rather than a typical FPS that thrusts players into action, Siege will require gamers to carefully scheme lines of attack with stealth and precision.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will arrive on Dec. 1 for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. An open beta will be available between Nov. 25–29 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms in anticipation of the game’s wide release.
